No lapse in security will be tolerated, Prime Minister

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the safety of the citizens is the first responsibility of the government, no lapse in security will be tolerated.

According to Leading News, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the law and order situation, in which the security issues of the four provinces of Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir were reviewed. While talking to the participants of the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the safety of the citizens is the primary responsibility of the government, there is no room for negligence in this regard and any kind of security failure will not be tolerated.

The Prime Minister directed the Federal Interior Minister to visit the four provinces and said that the relations and coordination between the Federation and the provinces should be improved in terms of law and order. He further directed that effective steps should be taken to improve the efficiency of counter-terrorism departments in all provinces, equipping the law enforcement agencies with modern weapons and equipment.

Shahbaz Sharif directed that the decisions taken in the Apex Committee should be fully implemented.

The meeting was told that steps have been taken to make Safe City projects more effective in major cities of the country. On the instructions of the Prime Minister, the Federal Interior Secretary recently visited the four provinces to review the law and order problems faced by the provinces and the resources required.

In the meeting, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, Jahan Zeib Khan, Chief Secretaries of the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory, the four provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad IGs of Jammu and Kashmir Islamabad Police and concerned government officers participated.
