No mass evictions during Azm-e-Istehkam operation :sources

Security officials have issued clarifications regarding the Azm-e-Istehkam operation, emphasizing that its primary objective is to combat terrorism and drug trafficking, contrary to misunderstandings and misconceptions.

According to reliable security sources, the operation aims to prevent terrorism-related crimes and curb drug trafficking activities across the country. Dispelling rumors of mass evictions or large-scale displacements, officials assured that the operation does not target civilians but focuses solely on eliminating terrorist networks.

“There will be no forced displacements; this operation is specifically designed to maintain peace and stability,” affirmed the sources, highlighting a comprehensive strategy to tackle terrorism without compromising on security measures.

The officials underscored the government’s commitment to bringing terrorists to justice without negotiations, ensuring a robust legal framework to prosecute offenders effectively. They also stressed the interrelation between drug trafficking and terrorism financing, indicating intensified efforts to disrupt these illicit activities.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently approved the Azm-e-Istehkam operation as part of a concerted national effort, garnering consensus from all stakeholders, including provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative reflects a unified resolve to eradicate extremism from Pakistan.

However, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) voiced strong opposition, criticizing the operation’s implementation without parliamentary consultation. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan condemned the lack of parliamentary oversight, citing procedural grievances and asserting the need for transparent governance.
