No possibility of change in ECP’s announced Election date: Minister

Islamabad: The Caretaker Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, said there won’t be any changes to the election date set by the Election Commission of Pakistan. He mentioned this after a cabinet meeting in Islamabad.

The cabinet also rejected the Indian Supreme Court’s decision on the annexation of Jammu and Kashmir, considering it illegal. They emphasized that Kashmir is an international dispute, not just an internal matter for India.

The government expressed support for Kashmir and called on the global community to condemn India’s actions. They believe the Indian Supreme Court’s decision won’t impact the Kashmir issue.

The cabinet condemned a terrorist attack in D I Khan and affirmed that such acts wouldn’t weaken the resolve of the Pakistani people in the fight against terrorism.

Other decisions included approving a memorandum with Gambia, terminating the contract of the National Telecommunication Corporation’s managing director, and changes to rules benefiting Afghan nationals in Pakistan.

Additionally, the cabinet endorsed the first National Space Policy, allowing international companies to provide services through Low Orbit Communication Satellite in Pakistan. This policy aims to attract foreign investment and save foreign exchange.

The government also approved the immediate return of the Managing Director of the Korangi Fisheries Harbour Authority and ordered an investigation into mismanagement.

In the health sector, the cabinet forwarded cases of medical colleges to the Pakistan Medical and Dental College for initial approval. They also discussed drug pricing and directed a review of the drug policy.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved the establishment of a National Cybercrime Investigation Agency and a Telecom Tribunal. It also supported decisions related to energy matters.

In response to questions, Solangi clarified that the current caretaker government hasn’t been declared illegal by any court or constitutional body. The government is actively addressing terrorism concerns, and they take security seriously, as seen in the case of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Solangi reiterated the importance of international resolutions in addressing issues like Kashmir and emphasized the long-standing struggle of the Palestinian people for self-determination.
