Islamabad: On the recent Pakistan-Iran isuue, the National Security Committee (NSC) declared Iran as a “neighbourly and brotherly Muslim country,” highlighting the need to enhance communication channels for addressing mutual security concerns. Chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the committee underscored the importance of utilizing existing diplomatic channels to foster dialogue and diplomacy between the two nations, ultimately contributing to regional peace and stability.
The committee’s discussions primarily focused on the prevailing situation between Pakistan-Iran, conducting a comprehensive review of the security landscape. Acknowledging the historical ties between the two countries, the NSC expressed optimism that minor challenges could be overcome through diplomatic means, reinforcing the principles of good neighbourly relations.

During the meeting, the NSC commended the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their professional, calibrated, and proportionate response to an unprovoked and unlawful violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty. Participants were briefed on political and diplomatic developments related to the current situation, with a particular emphasis on their implications for the overall security environment in the region.
Furthermore, the NSC took stock of the recently executed ‘Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar,’ a successful initiative aimed at countering Baloch terrorists of Pakistani origin residing in ungoverned spaces within Iran. The operation, reflecting strong collaboration between the two nations, was lauded for its effectiveness in addressing security challenges emanating from shared borders.
As both countries navigate complex geopolitical dynamics, the NSC expressed its commitment to fostering deeper relations with Iran, anticipating that constructive dialogue and cooperation will pave the way for a more stable and secure region. The committee’s stance underscores the importance of diplomatic solutions in addressing challenges, setting the stage for continued collaboration between Pakistan and Iran.
