Omar Ayub Khan Demands PTI Worker Protection

In a fiery speech during the National Assembly session, Omar Ayub Khan, highlighted the alleged violence against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers, stressing the need for an impartial inquiry into recent events.

Khan expressed grave concern over the treatment of PTI workers, stating that they were subjected to severe violence during detention and were coerced into leaving the party. He emphasized that a significant portion of Pakistan’s population is youthful and has witnessed their families being targeted with violence.

Addressing the Prime Minister, Omar Ayub Khan called for a focus on upholding the rule of law in the country and held Shehbaz Sharif responsible for past incidents, notably the events of November 3, 2022.

He recounted specific incidents, including the attack in Wazirabad where a PTI worker was martyred and others injured, demanding accountability for the perpetrators. Khan questioned the whereabouts of the attackers and expressed apprehension that they might meet a fate similar to ‘Maqsood chaprasi’.

Asserting the innocence of PTI members, Khan demanded justice for those arrested and highlighted the lack of live coverage of his speech on state television, urging the Speaker to rectify the situation.

Additionally, Khan addressed the imprisonment of PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, describing them as political prisoners and advocating for fair treatment, especially for Bushra Bibi.

Despite the departure of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his speech, Khan continued to voice his concerns, stressing the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing the challenges faced by the nation.

He concluded by emphasizing the strength of Bushra Bibi as an asset to Imran Khan and called for an impartial inquiry into various incidents, including the killings of Arshad Sharif and Zillay Shah, as well as the shooting of innocent individuals on May 9.
