Islamabad: In a significant breakthrough, the Pakistan Army’s SSG commandoes successfully rescued all eight individuals, including six children and two teachers, who were trapped on a chairlift in the Allai tehsil of Battagram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The operation led by the commander of the Special Services Group (SSG), General Officer Commanding (GOC), involved not only the rescue of the individuals but also the coordination of the entire operation.
Rescue Operation and Successful Conclusion
The operation commenced 12 hours ago, and the successful conclusion was confirmed by Rescue 1122. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army’s media wing, also announced that all eight individuals trapped in a gondola dangling 274 meters (900 feet) above a ravine after a cable snapped have been rescued.
Names of Rescued Individuals
According to the ISPR, the names of the five individuals who were rescued are Irfan, Niaz Muhammad, Rizwan, Gulfaraz, and Sher Nawaz. The efforts made by the SSG commandoes and the coordination of the operation ensured the safe retrieval of all trapped individuals.
Challenges Faced
Due to the potential risks posed by unfavorable weather conditions, the helicopter-based rescue operation was initially suspended as night fell. However, the operation continued through alternative means and was conducted from the ground to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
