Pakistan Army Vows Decisive Response to Indian Aggression

Islamabad: Amid escalating tensions with India following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, the Pakistan Army has vowed to respond “surely and decisively” to any act of Indian aggression, asserting that the aspirations of the Pakistani people will be protected “at all costs.”

The strong statement came during a Special Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir. The meeting was convened to assess the evolving regional security environment, with a specific focus on the deteriorating Pakistan-India relationship.

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have surged following the killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India has blamed Pakistan for the attack without providing any evidence, triggering a series of hostile actions including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, revocation of visas for Pakistani nationals, and closure of the Wagah-Attari border crossing.

In response, Islamabad expelled Indian diplomats and military advisers, cancelled visas for Indian citizens—except Sikh pilgrims—and reciprocated by closing the border crossing from its side. Pakistan also reiterated its denial of any involvement in the Pahalgam attack and offered to cooperate in a credible international investigation.

During the high-level military meeting, the forum conducted a detailed review of the current strategic landscape, reaffirming the Pakistan Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to national sovereignty and territorial integrity. COAS Munir praised the professionalism and preparedness of the military, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and operational readiness on all fronts.

The Pakistan Army leadership expressed grave concern over India’s continued atrocities in IIOJK and unprovoked targeting of civilians along the Line of Control (LoC). The forum stated that such actions would be met with “a resolute and proportionate response.”

Highlighting India’s repeated use of crises to advance political and military agendas, the commanders drew parallels with the 2019 Pulwama incident, after which India unilaterally revoked Article 370 of its constitution, changing the status of Kashmir. The Pahalgam incident, they warned, appears to follow a similar script aimed at distracting Pakistan from its western security challenges and economic recovery efforts.

The forum also condemned India’s moves to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, describing them as an alarming attempt to “weaponize water” and threaten the livelihoods of over 240 million Pakistanis.

Additionally, the military expressed alarm over credible evidence of Indian military and intelligence involvement in terrorism within Pakistan, calling such actions blatant violations of international norms.

“The path to peace and development in Pakistan will not be deterred by terrorism, coercion, or aggression,” the forum stated, affirming that destabilization efforts by the Indian government would be confronted and defeated.

The meeting concluded with COAS General Munir expressing full confidence in the preparedness and resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces and strategic command to defend the country against any threat.
