Pakistan Condemns Attack, Urges Action from Afghanistan

Islamabad: Pakistan strongly condemns a terrorist attack on its security forces’ post in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan, resulting in the tragic loss of 23 personnel on Tuesday. The Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan, linked to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) based in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for the attack.

In response, the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan held a meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires (Cd’A) of the Afghan Interim Government (AIG) to express Pakistan’s concerns. A press release from the Foreign Office stated that Pakistan demanded immediate action against the attackers and their hideouts in Afghanistan.

The Afghan authorities were urged to conduct a thorough investigation, condemn the terrorist incident publicly, take swift and verifiable actions against all terrorist groups and their leaders, apprehend and hand over the attackers and TTP leaders in Afghanistan to Pakistan. Additionally, Pakistan called for measures to prevent the continued use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan.

Pakistan emphasized that this attack underscores the ongoing terrorist threat in the region and called for collaborative efforts to tackle this menace. Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism and urged the Afghan Interim Government to fulfill its responsibilities in this regard.
