The Pakistan Navy’s vigilant efforts in safeguarding maritime security were showcased as Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Aslat intercepted a vessel carrying a substantial quantity of narcotics in the north Arabian Sea during a routine regional patrol, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Tuesday.
According to the military’s media wing, the seized narcotics held a significant value in the international market, underscoring the magnitude of the successful operation.
A concise statement issued by ISPR attributed the operation’s success to the Pakistan Navy’s effective surveillance measures at sea, emphasizing its commitment to combating drug smuggling, piracy, and human trafficking.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the Pakistan Navy’s swift action in thwarting the attempt to smuggle narcotics in the Arabian Sea. In a statement released by the PM Office Media Wing, he commended the crew members, including officers and personnel of PNS Aslat, for their role in intercepting the vessel engaged in drug trafficking.
Highlighting the Navy’s relentless efforts in safeguarding maritime frontiers, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude to the officers and personnel for their dedication despite being away from their families.
Last week, Pakistan Navy had deployed PNS Aslat in the Indian Ocean for regional maritime security patrols, equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors capable of addressing various threats and conducting diverse maritime operations.
In an official statement, the Navy affirmed that the deployment aimed to ensure the safety of merchant ships entering and leaving Pakistani ports, bolstered by dedicated helicopter support for enhanced surveillance and response capabilities.
