ABU DHABI: Pakistan participated in the 16th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2023) and the seventh edition of the Maritime Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX 2023) in a big way.
Officials and representatives of more than 60 countries including Pakistan’s high-level defence delegation participated in the exhibition.
The success of this year’s edition cemented the global position of IDEX and NAVDEX as the largest defence event in the world, marking another success story in the journey of the exhibition, which began nearly 30 years ago.
IDEX 2023 hosted multiple number of exhibitors from across the globe covering all continents of the world.
Pakistan made a huge presence at the exhibition and its delegation included Minister of Defence Production Muhammad Israr Tareen.
Continuing its strong relations with the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan participated in IDEX 2023 in a multifaceted way.
The Pakistan Pavilion, under the patronage of Pakistan Defence Export Organisation, had displays from four major state owned enterprises and two members from the private sector.
Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) displayed main battle tanks, armoured personnel carriers and personnel protection equipment, while Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS), another manufacturing enterprise, surpassed its own previous participation by displaying flagship products like UAV Shahpar-II, air-to-ground cruise missile, Fateh-1 MLRS, thermal sights and laser guided bomb kits.
National Radio & Telecom Corporation (NRTC) displayed state-of-the-art software defined radios (SDRs), military communication systems, VVIP security jamming solutions, anti-drone system and battle management system (BMS), while Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) displayed a range of conventional/non-conventional small arms and other solutions.
Along with the state-owned enterprises, two private sector firms were also part of the Pakistan delegation.
Colonel Ejaz Bhatti, head of the Pakistan Pavilion and Pakistan Defence Export Organisation, said Pakistan’s defence products have a huge demand across the world, adding that their participation at IDEX 2023 will further expand the relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Adding more colour to the UAE defence show, Pakistan Navy ship ‘Yarmook’ reached Abu Dhabi on February 19 to participate in NAVDEX 2023.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Faisal Niaz Tirmizi received the ship at ADNEC Marina on its arrival.
The visit’s aim was to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and UAE.
