Pakistan is committed to fostering broad-based and enduring relations with the United States under President Donald Trump’s administration, stated Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during a telephonic conversation with a senior U.S. official on Tuesday, March 4.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar received a call from U.S. National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, during which Waltz conveyed President Trump’s appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts in countering terrorism. The call came just hours after President Trump announced the arrest of a Daesh operative believed to be behind the deadly 2021 suicide bombing outside Kabul airport.
The bombing, which occurred during the chaotic U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan, resulted in the tragic deaths of 170 Afghans and 13 U.S. troops. The attack occurred as crowds attempted to flee the country, just days after the Taliban took control of Kabul. President Trump’s announcement of the bomber’s arrest highlighted Pakistan’s assistance in capturing the top terrorist responsible for the attack.

Both sides agreed to further enhance collaboration in several key sectors, including IT, energy, and minerals, as outlined in the statement.
The two leaders also discussed the importance of continued dialogues on vital areas such as trade, investment, climate change, and health, with plans to prioritize these issues as part of a comprehensive, long-term agenda for cooperation in the future.
