Karachi: Deportation of Afghans residing illegally in Pakistan has started and 530 Afghans have been released from various jails of Sindh after completing their sentences.
According to Leading News, 169 Afghan male prisoners have been released from Hyderabad Jail, 317 Afghan male prisoners have been released from Karachi and Hyderabad Jail, while 41 children have been released from Bacha Jail in Karachi and Hyderabad.
56 Afghan women prisoners were released from Karachi Women Jail while 32 from Hyderabad Jail, 84 children were released with their mothers from Women Jails in Karachi and Hyderabad, while 800 Afghan women prisoners are still imprisoned in various jails of Sindh.
The Sindh government says that all the released prisoners have completed their sentences and all the persons were sentenced to two months by different courts.
Jail authorities say that the released Afghan prisoners include three nephews and a sister of Afghan cricketer Fazlul Haq Farooqui.
The Sindh Home Department has ordered the police officers to take custody of the Afghan prisoners and take them to the Chaman border, while the Afghan Consulate in Karachi has also been informed about the deportation of the Afghan citizens.
