RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Peshawar on Wednesday, where he held an interactive session with a Jirga of tribal elders and was briefed on the prevailing security situation along the Pak-Afghan border.
During his visit to Headquarters 11 Corps, the COAS received a detailed briefing on the security environment, operational preparedness, and ongoing counterterrorism operations aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Addressing the tribal Jirga, the army chief lauded the steadfast and unconditional support of the tribal people during the recent standoff between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban. He paid rich tribute to the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the war against terrorism.
The COAS emphasized that Pakistan seeks peace with all neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan, but made it clear that cross-border terrorism from Afghan soil would not be tolerated.

He said that despite Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic overtures for peaceful bilateral relations, the Afghan Taliban regime had failed to act against Indian-sponsored terror proxies — Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan — and had instead provided them support.

Field Marshal Asim Munir assured the tribal elders that Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, would be completely cleansed of terrorists and their facilitators.
The tribal elders appreciated the army chief’s candid discussion and reaffirmed their unwavering support for peace and stability in the region, declaring that the extremist ideology of Fitna al Khwarij had no acceptance among the tribes of KP.
Upon his arrival in Peshawar, the COAS was received by Commander Peshawar Corps.
