B4B lifts UAE National Cricket Cup Trophy with an emphatic win

Dubai based B4B Cricket Team lifts the UAE National Tape Ball Cricket Cup trophy after defeating Catkeer Badshah team in the final match played at Oval Cricket Ground in Ajman on December 2.

The National Day tournament was organized by the Leading Sports—a Dubai-based sports services and management company – as part of the Year of the 50th UAE Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

Twelve teams from across the UAE participated in the tournament. At least 10 players from Pakistan also flew to UAE to participate in the first season of the National Day Tape Ball Cricket Cup.

Batting first, B4B batters smashed 93 in just 5 overs with Osama scoring 48 runs and Muzamil 33 runs. Catkeer Badshah batters could score only 27 runs in two overs as the B4B bowlers did not give them any chance to score runs imposing emphatic win. Catkeer Badshah batters reached the final after thrashing Horizon Club in the first semi-final while B4B beat Kashmir United in the second semifinal.

Hundreds of spectators turned up at the Oval Cricket Ground to watch thrilling matches.

Chief Guest Mian Owais Anjum, Convener of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Middle East, handed over the winner’s cup B4B captain Mohammed Ali at an impressive concluding ceremony attended by some prominent members of the community and businessmen.

Nawaz Khan Jadoon, senior PTI leader in the UAE, awarded the runners up trophy cup to Catkeer Badshah team captain Raja Faheem. Chaudhry Javed Iqbal, a PTI leader, presented the man of the series trophy to Haroon Abbasi while Mahboob Khan was declared the best bowler of the series and Shiraz Khan was chosen as the best batsman.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mian Owais Anjum congratulated the Leading Sports for organizing such a wonderful cricket tournament on the occasion of the UAE National Day Golden Jubilee. He said that such tournaments provide an opportunity to community members to get-together and celebrate the National Day in a befitting manner. He also congratulated the B4B team on winning the trophy.

Mian Owais also congratulated the UAE Rulers on the National Day and thanked them for providing ample opportunities to expatriate community members to be part of the development process in the UAE.

PTI UAE leader Nawaz Khan Jadoon while addressing the ceremony said that the UAE was like second home to Pakistanis. “We also thank the Leading Sports for organizing such healthy sports activities for the expatriate communities in the UAE. We will continue to support these events to help people get involved in healthy activities and stay fit,” he added.

The ceremony was also attended by prominent businessman including Raja Khan Mohammed,Dr. Vivek Bakshi Director Young Talent Cricket Academy; Ashfaq Ahmed, President of Pakistan Journalists Forum; Arshad Anjum, Chief Editor Janab-e- Manzil; Khalid Malik from Khaleej Times; Dawood Sharif, Head of Pakistan Association Education Committee in Dubai, Amjad Kabeer, President Chinar Wing of Pakistan Association in Dubai; Ajman based businessman Nadeem Abdullah, L.B. Thakur from Oval Cricket Ground, Ajman.

The event was held with the support of Ghawa Holding, Khan Group of Companies, RMK Industries, Eurocake, Al Khyam Al Arabian Tent, Al Aqwa Technologies and Omar Tourism from Omar Group of Companies.

Raja Asad Khalid, Director Sports of the Leading Sports, thanked the sponsors and the media partners for their contribution to organize a successful cricket tournament to celebrate the UAE National Day. He said that the Leading Sports would continue to hold such events for the cross section of community members. “Our aim is to provide opportunities to UAE residents to participate in sports activities and help them stay healthy and fit,” he concluded.
