Karachi: The first digital census in the country’s history will begin today (Wednesday).
Under digital census every structure will be geo-tagging, all household and census records and entries will be saved through automated system on daily basis, door-to-door enumerators will answer questions through software on their tablets. 43,838 Senses Blocks have been created in 30 districts of Sindh, including more than 10,700 blocks in Karachi.
Each census block consists of 250 to 300 houses, enumerators will register answers to about 25 questions through the tablet. For the first time, the household census will collect information on income along with information on disability types of special persons and transgenders.
According to the Federal Bureau of Statistics, 28 thousand 706 enumerators have been trained in digital census in Sindh. Enumerators coming during the first digital census of Pakistan will not require any kind of document from the citizens. Illegally resident immigrants or aliens who do not have identification documents will be counted separately.
