PCB appoints Abdur Rehman as Spin Bowling Coach

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test spinner Abdur Rehman as the spin bowling coach for the national cricket team.

Currently, under the leadership of Shan Masood, the Pakistan cricket team is in Multan preparing for the first of two Test matches against the West Indies, starting January 17, as part of the ICC Test Championship.

The national selection committee has announced a 15-member Test squad for the series, featuring three spinners: Nauman Ali, Abrar Ahmed, and Sajid Khan.

Abdur Rehman, a left-arm orthodox spinner, took 140 wickets for Pakistan across Tests, One-Day Internationals, and T20 Internationals from 2006 to 2014. He has now joined the team in Multan, bringing his experience and expertise to the coaching staff.

Rehman, who hails from Sialkot, will celebrate his 45th birthday on March 1 this year. He retired from international cricket in October 2018. Prior to his current role, he served as a member of the coaching staff for the Pakistan women’s cricket team. This appointment marks his first experience as a spin bowling coach with the men’s national team.
