PeriCare pods for nursing mothers on the go

DUBAI: The ability to feed their children in privacy and comfort, whether at work or whilst out and about should never be a compromise for new mothers.

Against a lack of suitable, hygienic space available for pumping breastmilk or nursing their babies, MENA’s first FemTech start-up, PeriCare, now gives the option for all corporate entities, workplaces, and public spaces to host their own breastfeeding pod.

The feedback from mothers who have tried them shows the need for more facilities and support to be made available for mothers on the go.

PeriCare’s flagship product is the stand-alone state-of-the-art nursing pod that offers mothers a premium experience to pump or breastfeed their babies, whilst also helping brands connect with their parent customers and employees.

One of PeriCare pods is currently installed at In5 Innovation Center, Dubai Internet City. The pod offers a sanitary, stylishly designed environment that comes tech-enabled to offer the experience that nursing mothers deserve, and ensure comfort with inbuilt speakers, dimmable lighting and ergonomic seating.

PeriCare nursing pods allow mothers to adjust the lighting, play relaxing music, shop for mother and baby products, or consume educational content via the built-in tablet and electronic control system.

Outside the pod, mothers can download the PeriCare app to locate the nearest nursing pod, connect with other mothers, consume content or shop for products.

PeriCare pods will also be displayed at the 2023 Arab Health exhibition, to be held between January 30 and February 2 at Dubai World Trade Center.

Dubai mums were recently introduced to the PeriCare nursing pod on-site at Dubai Design Week and Times Square Center, where parents shared their experiences of using the facility.

“When you’re stressed, the baby doesn’t settle. This [pod] is really comfortable for me and the baby, and I really like the smell,” said Mira from the Philippines.

“I appreciate the existence of this because as a mom it makes me feel I have my own space to take care of my baby with privacy, comfort and convenience,” Aya Assaf from Egypt said.

“I love that it smells really nice and doesn’t have bright colours to distract or agitate my baby,” was the opinion of Lelya Felfel from the Netherlands.

Founded in Dubai in 2022 by Perihan Abouzeid, PeriCare is on a mission to support mothers on the go, with a whole range of original products to be released this year.

Perihan says, “Our nursing pods are designed for the comfort and care of mothers on the go — who deserve the best whether at work, whilst traveling or spending leisure time in shopping centres and more. We are working closely with corporates and tourism entities to bring the PeriCare experience to their employees and visitors and have designed them to be fully customisable on the inside and the outside, all while maintaining the Premium PeriCare experience.”

With such positive feedback from users and a need for the provision of new and accessible spaces for parents to feed and nurse their babies across the UAE and the GCC, PeriCare will be expanding the range of support to include new products and services to support parents on the go.
