Picture goes viral isn’t from any of Sindh’s Jail, Memon

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that some children’s pictures have gone viral on social media and they are being shown the prisons of Sindh, while those pictures are not of any jails in Sindh.

In a joint press conference with Provincial Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Adviser to Chief Minister Sindh on Prisons Ijaz Jakhrani and Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh on Media Affairs Fahad Haroon said that rumors on social media related to Sindh prisons. are being spread, and pictures of Afghan children are being viral, which has no truth.

He said that it was said on social media that this is a picture of Landhi Jail, when checked, it was found that it is not a picture of Landhi Jail, then it was said that it is a picture of Women’s Jail, but after checking there, it was found. It turns out that this photo is not even of women’s jail, actually this photo is not of any jail in Sindh.

Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that 129 under-trial Afghan women and 178 children are in jail in Sindh, these children are not arrested but live with their mother in jail according to the court order and law, because in the jail rules, women prisoners are given 7 Children up to the age of one year are allowed to accompany them. He said that when the children’s parents are in jail and there is no one to take care of them, according to the law women can keep the children with them.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that illegal immigrants are not allowed to live in any country, illegal immigrants are arrested according to the constitution and law, this is the law all over the world, they were arrested and presented in courts. Gaya, now he is in jail on court order.

The provincial information minister said that the issue of women imprisoned in jails should not be taken in the context of Afghan nationality, because women from Nigeria, Bangladesh and other countries are also imprisoned in Sindh, this law applies to all illegal immigrants, the courts said. 54 women have been sentenced to two months and their sentences will be completed in the first week of January, who will be deported with the support of the federal government.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Sindh government’s position on illegal immigrants is clear, action is being taken against them according to the laws of the country. Such persons are not allowed to buy and sell properties here. If illegal immigrants are involved in crimes, they will be prosecuted on their merits, regardless of their nationality.

On this occasion, videos and photos of children’s jail were also shown to the media. Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the best environment is being provided to the children in the jail. They are also being provided with the best food and education and health facilities. He invited the media representatives to visit the Juvenile Jail at the end of the press conference today with the Advisor for Jails and show the nation and the whole of Pakistan that no one is treated like this in the jails of Sindh. He said that on December 9, 2022, a delegation of the National Commission for Human Rights, headed by Chairperson Rabia Jawaria Agha, visited the women and children’s prison, in which they praised the facilities and environment provided in the prison.
