DUBAI: In a vibrant display of energy, skill, and community spirit, the Pakistanis in Dubai (PID) community recently hosted the second season of the Women-Only Badminton Tournament.
The event aimed at empowering women and encouraging healthy lifestyles in a fun, competitive atmosphere.
The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from women across the community, with the following emerging as champions:
1st place: Saman Nawaz
2nd place: Qurrat ul Ain Sabahat
3rd place: Faiza Zubair
Organised by Rida Arslan, the Head of Women Empowerment at PID, the event was a huge success and a testament to the importance of sports activities in providing a much-needed break from daily routines.
Rida commented, “Ladies ke liye sports activity or apne aap ko time dena bohat zaroori hai (Sports activity and giving time to yourself are very important for ladies). This tournament is not just about winning; it’s about participation, encouragement, and the joy of playing together.”
The tournament was filled with laughter, competitive spirit, and camaraderie. While winning and losing are part of the game, it was the sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and energy of the participants that truly made the event special.
The community is already looking forward to Season 3 of the tournament, with plans to make it even bigger and better. Participants are encouraged to keep practising, stay positive, and maintain their sporting spirit as they prepare for the next season.
Task Sports and Masooma were the event’s sponsors.
The event was made even more special with the incredible resin artwork by Sabika, who created fridge magnets beautifully portraying the PID logos, as a token of remembrance for the participants.
The Pakistanis in Dubai community remains committed to fostering unity and well-being through such events and activities, with more exciting events in the pipeline.
