Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday authorized a major crackdown against smuggling and hoarding of sugar and profiteering.
In the high-level meeting held in Lahore, the Prime Minister expressed his anger over the reports of illegal profiteering and smuggling and Shahbaz Sharif called a high-level meeting in Islamabad to remedy the smuggling.
He said that in the meeting, a nationwide action strategy will be prepared to end the smuggling of other goods including sugar. Apart from this, the Prime Minister directed to deal with iron hands and give severe punishment to the characters involved in smuggling, illegal profiteering and hoarding.
The Prime Minister said that people cannot be left at the mercy of smugglers, illegal profiteers and hoarders, those who persecute people will be held accountable.
Shahbaz Sharif directed Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to take effective measures and supervision to control the price of sugar in the province.
