Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated Iranian President Syed Ibrahim Raisi on the restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Riyadh.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, it was stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a telephone conversation with the Iranian President and discussed strengthening bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest, especially trade, energy cooperation, security, and regional stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently expressed satisfaction over the commissioning of the Polan-Gabad Electricity Transmission Line and appreciated the cooperation of the Iranian government in this regard. The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to increase people-to-people contacts, including cultural and educational exchanges, to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif appreciated the efforts of the Iranian leadership to promote peace and stability in the region and congratulated President Ibrahim Raisi on the historic progress of restoring diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
In addition, the Prime Minister said that the violations of human rights by Israel in the occupied territories of Palestine should be stopped immediately and according to the relevant resolutions of the United Nations and international laws, a fair settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should be based on a two-state solution. And stressed the need for lasting solutions.
