PM Kakar assures security ahead of February 8 Elections

Islamabad: Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the ongoing process for elections, with candidates filing nomination papers and political parties actively engaging in building voter narratives. He assured the public that the polls on February 8 would proceed as scheduled, in accordance with constitutional requirements, leading to the formation of a new elected government.

Security Measures for Political Leaders

In response to security concerns for prominent political figures, including Nawaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam Nawaz, Imran Khan, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Prime Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to providing security. He acknowledged potential targeting of political leaders and stated that the government would be held responsible for any lapses in their security. The caretaker government, he assured, would fulfill its responsibilities during the elections period.

No Interference with PTI Participation

Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar clarified that it would be illegal to impede the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from participating in the elections. He emphasized that there was no policy to prevent the PTI from organizing public meetings, and on election day, PTI candidates would actively participate in the electoral process.

Addressing Past Incidents and Complaints

The Prime Minister acknowledged incidents related to May 9 and emphasized that individuals involved were facing the legal consequences. He advocated for a fair review by the Election Commission of complaints made by political parties regarding maladministration.

Balochistan Protests and Security Measures

Regarding protests in Balochistan, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar acknowledged the rights of protesters to voice their concerns. He mentioned the formation of a five-member cabinet committee to engage with Balochistan protesters and stressed the importance of peaceful demonstrations with local administration permission. The Prime Minister also noted ongoing court proceedings related to incidents in Balochistan and highlighted the presence of terrorist organizations in the province.

Call for Economic Agenda

Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar urged voters to support a political party with a comprehensive agenda for the economic revival of Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of voting for a party that prioritizes economic development.

Counteracting Terrorism and Protecting Lives

In response to the wave of terrorism in the country, the Prime Minister pledged government efforts to protect the lives of citizens. He identified external forces seeking to disrupt Pakistan and emphasized the need for collective efforts to counteract terrorism.

Government Stance on Disappearances

On the disappearance and surfacing of certain politicians, the Prime Minister stated that the government had no concern with the matter, emphasizing individual responsibility for actions and stances.

Balochistan Security Challenges

Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar highlighted security challenges in Balochistan, including attacks against security forces and police. He expressed concern over the lack of public outcry against such incidents and underscored the presence of terrorist organizations operating in the province.
