PM Kakar orders stern action against religious extremists in G-B

Gilgit: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar has issued strict directives against individuals promoting religious extremism in the Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) region.

During a comprehensive briefing held in Gilgit, Prime Minister Kakar was briefed on the current law and order situation in the area. He stressed the importance of promptly identifying extremist elements and taking decisive action against them.

Emphasizing that the security and well-being of all Pakistani citizens is the government’s paramount responsibility, he reiterated his commitment to this cause.

The interim premier also received updates on the progress of various developmental projects and the overall security status in the region.

Throughout the briefing, the caretaker prime minister was informed about advancements in multiple sectors, including information technology, healthcare, and education, among others.

The presentation underscored the timely identification and effective resolution of several educational issues in Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly in Diamer and Skardu. Key initiatives in the education sector include providing students with meals, constructing modern educational facilities, renovating dilapidated buildings, enhancing teacher training programs, and establishing state-of-the-art smart schools.

Furthermore, the prime minister was briefed on the positive strides made in healthcare services in Gilgit-Baltistan. In response to the rising prevalence of psychological disorders, a 24-hour helpline has been set up to address mental health concerns.

The briefing also covered positive developments in the environmental and tourism sectors. Additionally, Kakar was updated on subsidies related to wheat cultivation, electricity production, and the current state of the budget in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Kakar directed the Gilgit-Baltistan administration and political leadership to assess the benefits of all ongoing development projects thoroughly.

The meeting was attended by Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti, Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah, Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan, and other senior officials.
