Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has taken a firm stance against the harassment and coercion of civil servants, pledging to defend their constitutional rights and combat the menace of “violent trolls” who seek to manipulate and intimidate them. In a statement issued on Monday, Prime Minister Kakar emphasized the pivotal role of civil servants in upholding the democratic principles of the State of Pakistan.
Following the split mandate expressed by the people of Pakistan on February 8, Prime Minister Kakar acknowledged the diverse opinions within the nation. However, he condemned the actions of certain individuals with a history of violence and vigilantism who are now resorting to nefarious tactics, including the weaponization of social media, to coerce civil officials into switching their allegiances.
Prime Minister Kakar underscored that such behavior constitutes a blatant violation of Article 5 and other constitutional provisions, as well as the laws of the land. He affirmed the commitment of the State of Pakistan to protect civil officials in the execution of their duties and to ensure that those responsible for harassment face exemplary punishment.
