Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, on Thursday honored brave commandos, armed forces personnel, and local residents for their role in rescuing eight stranded passengers from a suspended chairlift in Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
At a commemoration ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office, Kakar praised the efforts of those involved, highlighting their exceptional skills that led to the successful conclusion of the mission. He also expressed the nation’s shared concern for the safety of the trapped passengers, particularly the children who remained suspended on the chairlift for hours.
The prime minister emphasized the triumphant operation as a collective achievement, extending recognition to those who prayed for the successful rescue from their homes. He commended the planning involved and acknowledged the credit to the planners. The emotional account of the rescued children was also noted.
Kakar underscored the state’s responsibility to provide quality healthcare, education, and dignified life. He urged those with ill intentions obstructing the state’s functioning to reconsider their stance, referring to recent security personnel losses in South Waziristan.
The prime minister reiterated that sacrifices made by various segments in the war against terrorism would be remembered. He expressed deep empathy for terror victims’ families and emphasized the significance of respecting and honoring security forces personnel.
Caretaker PM Kakar assured capable governance for the forthcoming general elections within a limited timeframe. He distributed commendation certificates among security forces personnel and local experts who participated in the rescue operation. The rescued children were also given souvenirs during the event.
National Disaster Management Authority Chairman acknowledged the effective coordination among departments contributing to the operation’s success. He stressed the need to strengthen local rescue departments’ capacity for handling such emergencies.
Prominent caretaker federal ministers, including Murtaza Solangi, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Jamal Shah, Sarfaraz Bugti, Anwar Ali Hyder, Ijaz Gohar, and Madad Ali Sindhi, attended the ceremony.
