PM Kakar, President Xi vow to make CPEC corridor of sustainable growth

Beijing: At the Third Belt and Road Forum, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar of Pakistan met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in a diplomatic rendezvous that underscored the steadfast partnership between the two nations. During their meeting at the Great Hall of the People, the leaders discussed various key aspects of their relationship, with particular emphasis on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Both leaders expressed their dedication to make the CPEC a corridor of growth, livelihood, innovation, openness, and green development, aligning it with Pakistan’s vision for sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development. Prime Minister Kakar commended President Xi Jinping on the successful organization of the Third Belt and Road Forum and lauded his eight-point agenda for the Belt and Road Initiative’s future direction.

The meeting also reaffirmed the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between Pakistan and China, highlighting the critical role this relationship plays in the ever-changing international landscape. They jointly resolved to enhance high-level dialogue and exchanges for mutual benefit, with Prime Minister Kakar emphasizing the unwavering trust and friendship between the two nations.

Prime Minister Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s support for China on its core issues, emphasizing that the bilateral relationship contributes to peace and stability in the region. In response, President Xi Jinping referred to Pakistan as an “iron-brother,” a trusted friend, and a partner in peace and development, expressing China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and overall development.

The leaders discussed bilateral cooperation aimed at fostering enhanced regional connectivity and economic development, aligning with the shared vision of both countries. Prime Minister Kakar assured China of Pakistan’s continued commitment to promoting regional connectivity and socio-economic development.

President Xi Jinping reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan in harnessing its geo-economic potential and becoming a hub of regional trade. The leaders also explored regional and global developments, highlighting their shared perspectives on major world issues, and pledged to deepen strategic communication across all levels and enhance bilateral cooperation in multilateral forums.

This high-level meeting at the Third Belt and Road Forum has solidified the bond between Pakistan and China and reaffirmed their commitment to shared economic development and strategic cooperation, marking a pivotal moment in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
