PM Shehbaz and cabinet visits GHQ, Praises Military’s Role

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the pivotal role of Pakistan’s military in facilitating the nation’s “peaceful rise” during a high-profile visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi on Friday.

Joined by his newly-appointed cabinet members, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in crucial discussions with the military’s top brass, including Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, on matters concerning national security, regional stability, and military preparedness.

Acknowledging the professionalism, operational readiness, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Army in combating terrorism, the premier expressed profound appreciation for the military’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring peace and stability.

Assuring full governmental support, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed the commitment to providing all necessary resources for maintaining the armed forces’ operational readiness, emphasizing that Pakistan is destined for greatness, with the military playing a pivotal role in its ascent.

In response, COAS General Syed Asim Munir extended gratitude to the prime minister for his visit to GHQ, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s steadfast resolve to uphold the nation’s security interests and support the government in addressing the prevailing security challenges.

The visit culminated with a resolute commitment from both civilian and military leadership to prioritize national interests and collaborate closely for the prosperity and security of Pakistan.

Before the substantive discussions commenced, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was accorded a ceremonial reception by COAS General Syed Asim Munir, underscoring the significance of the occasion. Additionally, in a poignant gesture of homage to the nation’s martyrs, the prime minister laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada.
