PM Shehbaz Reaffirms Pakistan’s Commitment to Empowering Women

Islamabad: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality. In his message, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of creating a society where every woman’s potential is realized and where every girl’s dream is achievable.

“On this day, let us reaffirm our collective resolve to intensify our efforts to further advance respect for women’s rights and build a Pakistan where every woman’s potential is realized and every daughter’s dream is within her reach,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to celebrate the immense strength, resilience, and contribution of women to society. “Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength and luminosity of women—the architects of our society, the pillars of our homes, and the change-makers of our future. From classrooms to boardrooms, fields to frontlines, resilient Pakistani women are redefining possibilities to shape a bright future for our nation,” he remarked.

Sharif highlighted this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” stressing the collective responsibility to create a society where women can thrive and contribute meaningfully. He also emphasized that empowering women is not just a choice but an imperative for Pakistan’s prosperity.

“Our religion, Islam, places great emphasis on the dignity and rights of women. Pakistan has made significant strides in advancing women’s rights through our government’s concerted efforts, including policy interventions, legal reforms, and institutional support,” he added.

Despite these advancements, the Prime Minister acknowledged that the journey toward true gender equality was far from complete. He underscored that investing in women’s education, health, and economic independence is vital for the country’s progress. “Empowering women is no longer an option; it is now an imperative for the prosperity and progress of Pakistan. When we invest in women’s education, health, and economic independence, we uplift not just individuals but generations,” he concluded.

Pakistan’s commitment to empowering women continues to be a key focus of government policy, and International Women’s Day serves as an important reminder of the nation’s ongoing efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
