PM Shehbaz & Saudi Crown Prince Pledge to Fast-track $5B Investment

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had a significant meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. During their discussion, both leaders affirmed their commitment to fast-tracking the initial phase of an investment package worth $5 billion, previously agreed upon. This meeting, part of Prime Minister Shehbaz’s three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, took place at Al-Safa Palace on Sunday.

Their talks delved into strengthening the already strong ties between the two countries and exploring ways to collaborate further across various sectors. They particularly emphasized Saudi Arabia’s supportive role in Pakistan’s economy and expressed mutual interest in bolstering trade and investment relations.

Additionally, the leaders addressed global issues of concern, including the situation in Gaza. They called upon the international community to intervene and halt Israeli military operations in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of adhering to international law and providing humanitarian aid to the affected population.

Furthermore, both sides stressed the necessity of advancing the peace process, aligning with relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the General Assembly. They reiterated their support for the Arab Peace Initiative, aiming for a just and comprehensive solution that establishes an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The dialogue also touched upon the importance of resolving outstanding issues between Pakistan and India, particularly the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, through peaceful means to ensure regional peace and stability.

In a gesture of goodwill, the Crown Prince congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his assumption of office and extended warm wishes for his tenure. In return, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s steadfast support and hospitality, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.

Lastly, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended an invitation to the Crown Prince to visit Pakistan officially, which was warmly accepted, indicating the continued strengthening of relations between the two nations.
