PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Attack on Saudi Oil Facility, Reaffirms Pakistan’s Solidarity

Pakistan backs de-escalation efforts amid missile and drone strikes on Al Jubail energy infrastructure

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia during a telephone call with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, condemning a recent attack on the Al Jubail oil facility.

In a post on social media platform X, Sharif said, “We stand shoulder to shoulder with our Saudi brothers and sisters,” praising the kingdom’s restraint under the crown prince’s leadership. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.

Saudi authorities have not yet released full details on the extent of damage or casualties from the strike. Earlier, the Pakistani government issued a strong condemnation of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region. The Foreign Office termed the strikes a “serious violation” of Saudi sovereignty and warned that such actions represent a dangerous escalation threatening regional stability.

Pakistan’s top military commanders also voiced concern, calling the attacks an “unnecessary escalation” that undermines efforts for a peaceful resolution, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The corps commanders’ conference noted that Saudi Arabia had exercised restraint despite provocations, helping create space for diplomatic engagement. The military reiterated Pakistan’s support for dialogue, de-escalation, and principled diplomacy, highlighting the country’s role as a “responsible” contributor to regional stability.
