Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the decision to send 1,000 Pakistani students to China’s Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Base for advanced training. This initiative will be funded by the Pakistani government.
During his official visit to China, Prime Minister Sharif toured the Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Base in Xi’an on Saturday. He directed the Pakistani ambassador and relevant officials to work with their Chinese counterparts to finalize the details of this project promptly.
Prime Minister Sharif also extended an invitation to the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University to establish a campus in Pakistan, assuring full government support for this initiative.
While touring the Yangling Agricultural Demonstration Base, Prime Minister Sharif visited the Pakistani Pavilion, showcasing local agricultural products. He was briefed on the extensive collaborative agricultural research conducted at the base, which involves participation from 26 countries, with Pakistan being the first to initiate collaboration.

The briefing highlighted the involvement of Pakistani scientists and universities in these research efforts. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of agricultural innovation, stating, “Pakistan is an agricultural country. The government is striving for innovation in agriculture to increase per-acre yield. Enhancing the processing of Pakistani agricultural products can boost our exports, which is a top priority for the government.”
Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif visited a modern plant production factory at the base, where he observed various stages of vertical farming techniques through practical demonstrations.
This visit marks a pivotal step in strengthening Pakistan-China agricultural cooperation and enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural capabilities through advanced training and research.
