SHARJAH: The Pakistani community in the United Arab Emirates showered praises on Faisal Niaz Tirmzi, the outgoing ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE.
Hundreds of community members, including leading businessmen, gathered at a reception hosted by Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, President Pakistan Social Centre, Sharjah, to bid farewell to Ambassador Tirmizi.
Pakistani diplomats, including Consul General Hussain Mohammed, Commercial Consular Ali Raza and Press Consular Mohammed Saleh, also attended the event.
Addressing at the event, Ambassador Tirmizi urged the Pakistani community members to stand together for their national cause. He told the community members to abide by the UAE laws and also invest in Pakistan.
“I will never forget the love and affection shown by our community in the UAE,” he said.
The Ambassador was accorded a standing ovation with several rounds of applause by the gathering when he came on the stage to address the gathering.
He said that the Pakistan government has been trying to solve issues being faced by the Pakistani expatriates in the UAE.
He said that he has already given a proposal to build a new building for the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai because it is not big enough to accommodate the increasing number of visitors every day, adding that more than 1,200 people visit the consulate every day.
He also urged the illegal Pakistani expats to take benefit of the UAE’s amnesty scheme to legalise their status or leave the country without paying fines and facing any ban. He said that they can contact the consulate or the embassy for any assistance.
