Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi convened a follow-up meeting on Monday with the caretaker Law Minister, Ahmed Irfan Aslam, to delve into matters pertaining to the upcoming general elections. This discussion comes on the heels of their initial meeting held the previous week.
According to sources of Jang, there is speculation that the president might announce the date for the elections in the near future.
However, it’s worth noting that President Alvi’s legal team and the Attorney General have cautioned against such a move, citing concerns that it could potentially precipitate a legal and political crisis. Minister Ahmed Irfan Aslam reiterated to the President that the authority to declare the election date rests squarely with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
