President Zardari Stresses Political Dialogue for Resolving Provincial Issues

Balochistan’s Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, welcomed President Asif Ali Zardari to a dinner event aimed at fostering dialogue and addressing the province’s pressing issues. Bugti underscored the importance of political discourse in resolving Balochistan’s challenges, citing it as the primary path towards sustainable solutions.

During the dinner, CM Bugti reiterated Balochistan’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s landscape and emphasized the historical nature of President Zardari’s visit, signaling a renewed focus on the province’s concerns. He elaborated on the necessity of granting political autonomy to provinces, a move he deemed essential for interprovincial harmony, particularly in Balochistan.

Bugti delineated the multifaceted challenges confronting Balochistan, encompassing issues such as climate change, peace, and governance. He envisioned a future for Balochistan characterized by sustainability and environmental consciousness, achievable only through collaborative political efforts across Pakistan.

President Zardari reciprocated Bugti’s sentiments, affirming the federal government’s commitment to prioritize Balochistan’s development and prosperity. He highlighted the province’s strategic importance, citing its abundant mineral resources and extensive coastline as assets crucial to the nation’s progress.

Zardari pledged concrete measures to bolster agricultural production in Balochistan by reclaiming barren lands for cultivation. Additionally, he underscored the significance of the 18th amendment in promoting provincial empowerment and fostering national development.

Turning to Balochistan’s untapped potential in the oil and gas sector, President Zardari stressed the need for modern extraction methods to stimulate economic growth. He pledged support for low-income families in Balochistan through initiatives like the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), aiming for broader coverage to uplift marginalized communities.

Assuring maximum support for Balochistan’s development agenda, President Zardari reiterated his commitment to collaborating with the provincial government in creating opportunities for its citizens. He echoed Bugti’s call for political dialogue as a pivotal mechanism for addressing Balochistan’s intricate challenges and fostering inclusive progress.
