Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) prominent activist Sanam Javaid faced yet another turn of events today as she was rearrested just moments after being acquitted by an Islamabad court. Javaid had been held in custody for several months on charges related to the May 9 riots.
Earlier today, Javaid was released from jail following a favorable ruling from the Lahore High Court clearing her of charges in connection with the May 9 disturbances. However, her freedom was short-lived, as Islamabad police promptly took her back into custody.
This incident marks the latest chapter in a series of legal battles for Javaid, who has been implicated in multiple cases linked to the unrest following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan. Despite being acquitted in several cases and obtaining bail in others, Javaid continues to face legal challenges.

The circumstances surrounding her latest arrest remain unclear, as authorities have not specified the grounds for her rearrest. Javaid’s legal team is reportedly preparing to challenge the latest detention in court.
Sanam Javaid, known for her active presence on social media and her political campaigns, had also contested in the February 8 general elections on a PTI ticket from a provincial constituency in Punjab.
