PTI Calls for Judicial Inquiry Into Alleged Electoral Rigging

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised serious concerns regarding alleged rigging and manipulation of electoral results in the recent February 8th election, demanding a thorough judicial inquiry into the matter.

In a press conference held in Islamabad, PTI’s nominee for prime ministership, Omar Ayub Khan, alongside party leader Barrister Gohar Khan, emphasized the need for a transparent investigation into the electoral discrepancies. Khan expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the public, garnering over 30 million votes despite facing challenges in securing polling agents.

Highlighting PTI’s purported victory of 180 seats in the election, Khan lamented the alleged snatching of seats in key regions such as Punjab and Karachi, where he accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of foul play, alleging the theft of 18 seats. Moreover, Khan denounced the outcome in Peshawar, labeling the reported rigging as “the mother of all rigging.”

Citing revelations by Rawalpindi’s former commissioner Liaquat Chatha regarding fraudulent voting practices, Khan urged for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations. He emphasized the importance of separating individuals implicated in the inquiry, avoiding undue influence on the investigation process.

Responding to inquiries, Khan expressed gratitude to PTI’s founder for entrusting him with the prime ministerial candidacy and exuded confidence in securing victory for the party. He further outlined PTI’s post-election priorities, including efforts to “recover” PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, upon assuming office.

The PTI’s call for a judicial inquiry underscores its commitment to upholding electoral integrity and ensuring fair democratic processes in Pakistan. As the nation awaits further developments, the spotlight remains on addressing the allegations and preserving the credibility of the electoral system.
