PTI filed appeal to hold LG Polls in Capital on Dec 31

PTI has filed an intra-court appeal against the decision of the single bench of the Islamabad High Court to hold the local body elections in Islamabad on December 31.

According to Leading News, PTI leader Ali Nawaz Awan has filed an application through lawyer Sardar Taimur Aslam, in which the Cabinet Division, Interior Ministry, Election Commission and others have been made parties in the application.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani will hear the petition tomorrow. It has been argued in the petition that there is no importance in increasing the number of union councils eleven days before the election.

It has been said in the petition that the decision of the Single Bench should be annulled and the Election Commission’s decision of December 20 should be reinstated.

Single Bench Chief Justice Aamir Farooq has directed the Election Commission to take a decision after hearing the parties on December 27.
