Karachi police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former lawmaker Alamgir Khan Mehsood on Wednesday, shortly after his return from Islamabad, where he had attended a party protest rally.
According to media reports, Mehsood was taken into custody from his residence in Gulshan Iqbal in connection with First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against him in Islamabad. His family confirmed the arrest, stating that police arrived at their home to detain him.
PTI Karachi President Raja Azhar condemned the arrest, calling it a politically motivated move. “We will approach the courts to secure his release,” Azhar stated, emphasizing the party’s resolve to contest what they deem as unjustified detentions.
This is not the first time Alamgir Khan Mehsood has faced arrest. Earlier, he was detained outside the Karachi Press Club while protesting, along with other PTI leaders, against Israeli actions in Palestine.
