PTI Plans Protest in Islamabad on day of SCO Summit

Islamabad: As foreign dignitaries prepare to arrive in Islamabad for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans for another protest at D-Chowk on October 15, coinciding with the commencement of the crucial regional meeting.

The announcement follows a week of heightened tensions, during which PTI clashed with law enforcement while attempting to stage an anti-government protest at the same location. The clashes resulted in the federal capital being effectively placed under curfew for two days.

In a statement from the party’s political committee, it was confirmed that a demonstration would take place at D-Chowk on October 15. Additionally, a spokesperson for the former ruling party indicated that all district-level protests have been suspended in light of the upcoming event in the capital.

The planned protest underscores PTI’s ongoing opposition to the current government and aims to draw attention to its demands during a time when international attention will be focused on Pakistan. As the date approaches, authorities are likely to heighten security measures in anticipation of potential unrest.
