PTI to receive Imran Khan’s medical report after Supreme Court sit-in

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said on Friday that former prime minister Imran Khan’s family will receive his medical report, following a party sit-in outside the Supreme Court and Raja’s meeting with the Chief Justice.

The sit-in was staged to demand a meeting with the jailed PTI founder after he was briefly taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for an eye-related inspection.

Speaking to reporters, Raja said the party had been assured that the medical report would be shared with Imran Khan and his sisters. Personal doctors would also be allowed to access him at Adiala Jail once the report was issued. After receiving these assurances, PTI ended its hours-long protest.

Raja described the outcome as “not entirely satisfactory” but said the party had fought a “moral case” outside the court. He added that multiple discussions had taken place since morning with Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and the Attorney General to raise concerns about the former premier’s condition.

The medical report is expected to clarify Imran Khan’s eye health. Raja emphasised that obtaining the report was not the party’s sole objective, and PTI will continue efforts to ensure the former prime minister can meet his family and associates.

A PTI political committee meeting is scheduled for Friday to decide the next steps, while party leaders will also consult Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aiyeen Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas before finalising the strategy.

PIMS visit
Reports of Imran Khan’s brief hospital visit emerged on Wednesday, with PTI raising concerns over his eye health. Local media said he was treated for an eye infection on Saturday and returned to Adiala Jail the following day.

While PTI Chief Barrister Gohar Khan initially cited media reports of an eye ailment, Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Khan denied the claims, saying he was in good health.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, confirmed that Imran was taken to PIMS after doctors at Adiala Jail recommended further assessment and a minor procedure, which lasted around 20 minutes with his written consent.

Raja, however, alleged that the former premier was hospitalised without his consent and treated in a manner that ignored his wishes.
