PTI’s demand to declare Karachi LG Polls null and void

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded that local body elections in Karachi be declared null and void.

PTI General Secretary Asad Umar said in a press conference that the People’s Party stole the public mandate in the municipal elections of Karachi by force and rigging. The election should be annulled.

Asad Umar further said that earlier an attempt was made to postpone the elections. Elections were finally held in Sindh on January 15, but then the mandate was stolen.

He said that rigging started in the morning on the election day. PTI leader Amjad Afridi told in the video how 1000 votes were brought to the polling station. Instead of those who rigged the video, Amjad Afridi was arrested. Amjad Afridi was tortured and his brother lost an eye.

Asad Umar further said that the election was not taking place in the mountains but in the Union Council. Pressure was put on the election staff. The Election Commission is looking helpless in this whole process. When the public protested against the theft of the mandate, the police detained the PTI workers.

Asad Umar said that those protesting against the worst rigging of the People’s Party were tortured. A very scary game is being played against Karachi. Karachi is being walled in every way.

He said that even in the local government, those who were voted by the people of Karachi were not given mandate. The seats of Jamaat-e-Islami were also taken away. They reject this election in Karachi. Local elections of Karachi should be declared null and void.
