Public demands govt action for Pachiot-Mujahidabad road restoration

Rawalakot: Public Mobilizes to Restore Pachiot-Mujahidabad Road upgradation, Demands Government Action instead of self contribution.

The 29-kilometer road connecting Thela Tain to Mujahidabad in Rawalakot, originally constructed in the late 1990s with World Bank assistance, has fallen into disrepair. Once a vital highway, the road now presents a scene of neglect and ruin. The road’s construction was facilitated by the efforts of renowned political and social leader, Retired Colonel Muzaffar Khan (Late) of Shaukatabad, along with other prominent representatives of that era.

Amid growing frustration, the residents of Mujahidabad, Hornamara, Bereen, Balari, Nalian, Logriat, Shaukatabad, Baglay, Numble, Sangalkhaiter, Gahlaptola, and Thela, along with neighboring areas such as Datot, Airgali, and Bagiyana, have rallied together. They have resolved not to carry the burden of road repairs themselves but instead demand that the government undertake the road’s much-needed upgradation.

To bolster their cause, training camps are being held in various locations, including Thela, Numble, Shaukatabad, Bereen, and Hornamara. These camps aim to organize and educate the public on effective ways to press the government for action on the restoration of Pachiot-Mujahidabad road.

On September 13, 2024, a key meeting took place in Shaukatabad, a focal point of the movement. Chaired by Jameel Gul, Khalil Babar, Asad Anwar, and Shahzad Ismail, the meeting saw a robust and revolutionary discussion about strategies to ensure the success of the road restoration movement. A large gathering of people from Numble, Patola, Beridan, and other nearby regions attended, underscoring the movement’s wide support.

Photos from various areas reveal widespread participation, with the public actively involved in efforts to push for change.
