Islamabad: The pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf approached the Supreme Court against the decisions of Election Commission and Governor KP to postpone the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PTI filed a joint constitutional petition in the Supreme Court against the change of election date.
Speaker Punjab Assembly Sabtain Khan, Speaker KPK Assembly Mushtaq Ghani filed a constitutional petition. Tehreek-e-Insaf, Secretary Asad Umar, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rashid and Abdul-ur-Rehman are also among the joint petitioners.
In the constitutional petition, the Federation, Punjab, KPK, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Law and Cabinet have been made parties.
In the joint petition of Tehreek-e-Insaaf, requesting to annul the decision of the Election Commission, it took a stand that the Election Commission deviated from the constitutional mandate and the decision of the court, the decision of the Election Commission should be annulled, the Election Commission as per schedule 30 Elections should be ordered on April.
Later, the Registrar Supreme Court put a number on the petition of PTI on the issue of general elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without raising any objection.
