Relief for Pilgrims as Cost of Hajj 2024 Reduced by Rs0.1 Million

Islamabad: Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed has unveiled the highly anticipated Hajj policy for 2024 in a press conference, introducing groundbreaking measures to enhance the pilgrimage experience while significantly reducing the financial burden on pilgrims.

In a major relief for prospective pilgrims, Aneeq Ahmed announced that the cost for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage is set at 1.075 million rupees, a substantial decrease from the previous year’s 11,075,000 rupees.

Highlighting the pivotal role of digitization in the upcoming Hajj, the minister introduced a state-of-the-art mobile application designed to operate seamlessly even in low-connectivity areas. The app, available for download from the Religious Affairs Ministry website, will provide 7GB of data internet for 40 days, facilitating unlimited calls within Pakistan.

Efficiency takes center stage with 90,000 pilgrims set to receive suitcases embedded with QR codes, streamlining the entire management process. Ongoing discussions with airlines aim to secure minimum airfare, with resulting savings allocated to pilgrims’ accounts, making the pilgrimage more affordable.

To further enhance the overall experience, the Ministry of IT played a key role in the digital transformation of the process, ensuring a hassle-free communication breakthrough during the sacred journey.

In a gesture of national pride, all women undertaking the spiritual journey will be presented with abayas featuring the Pakistani flag, accompanied by small bags and Ihram to simplify the pilgrimage process.

Aneeq Ahmed expressed confidence that this digital leap will redefine the pilgrimage experience, stating, “With cabinet approval secured, the policy is set to ensure every pilgrim is equipped with a mobile app to enhance safety and communication on this sacred journey.”

He acknowledged the collaborative efforts, crediting caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar and emphasizing the steadfast support of the Saudi government in shaping the Hajj policy. The application process for Hajj 2024 is open from November 27 to December 12, marking a new era in the facilitation of the sacred pilgrimage.
