Religious Ministry Reveals Plans for a Modernized Hajj Experience

Islamabad: Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Aneeq Ahmed, has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing the Hajj pilgrimage experience. In collaboration with the Caretaker Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, the plan involves the development of a live mobile app designed to provide pilgrims with comprehensive information and tracking capabilities.

During a pivotal meeting attended by representatives from the Punjab Information Technology Board, the National IT Board, and key personnel from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, both ministers agreed to a joint effort to modernize the Hajj IT system. The primary goal is to enhance services and streamline the handling of pilgrim complaints.

Aneeq Ahmed outlined an ambitious vision to digitize the entire Hajj operation, effectively transforming it into a paperless process from start to finish. Plans include the establishment of computerized systems in Saudi Arabia to manage pilgrim movement and financial transactions seamlessly. Furthermore, efforts will be directed towards improving the efficiency of the private Hajj Group management information system.

Dr. Umar Saif expressed full cooperation in enhancing the Hajj experience and confirmed that the National IT Board would provide recommendations for the enhancement of the current Hajj information system. To ensure the successful development of this new system, a team of experts will be assigned within the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Saif emphasized that steering committees from both the National IT Board and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) would actively engage in the development process. Regular weekly meetings within the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications will be conducted to monitor progress and ensure the timely execution of this ambitious project.

This initiative represents a significant step towards a more efficient, accessible, and technologically advanced Hajj experience for pilgrims, showcasing Pakistan’s commitment to providing modern solutions to age-old traditions. Stay tuned for further updates on this transformative endeavor.
