Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight Ramadan moon today

Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad is set to lead a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee today (Monday) evening in Peshawar, ahead of the anticipated sighting of the Ramadan moon.

Chairman Azad has urged all Pakistanis to participate in the moon sighting process, expressing hope for a unified start to the holy month across the nation. If the crescent is sighted, Ramadan will officially commence on Tuesday.

Simultaneously, zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will convene their respective meetings on Shaban 29 after Asr prayers, aligning efforts for the moon sighting of Hijri year 1445.

According to the Met Office, the Ramadan moon was expected to be visible today, with an age of over 28 hours by evening.

Ramadan holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide, including millions in Pakistan, who observe fasting from dawn till sunset. Fasting durations typically span between 12 to 17 hours, varying by geographical location.

The holy month is marked by acts of charity, communal iftars, and increased devotion, with roadside stalls often set up to offer food to those returning home at dusk.

Business activities also witness a surge during Ramadan, driven by religious festivities and preparations for Eid ul Fitr, the festive culmination of the month-long observance. As Pakistan prepares to embrace Ramadan, the spirit of unity, compassion, and devotion permeates communities across the country.
