France: The 45th edition of the Dakar Rally saw the support of an esteemed French Horology Brand – Saint Honoré Paris, for the most ambitious off-road rally that took place in Saudi Arabia. Kicking off from the Red Sea in Jeddah on December 31st, 2022, the partnership brought together the ethos of precision, technical innovation, and integrity, which are paramount in watchmaking and car rallies, making this association a perfect match.
Dakar Rally, an annual event organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation, considered one of the most challenging motorsport events in the world, covers several thousand kilometres through rugged terrain in multiple countries, including dunes, rocks, and mountains. The event was first held in 1978 and originally called the ‘Paris-Dakar Rally’, as it started in Paris and concluded in Dakar, Senegal. Saint Honoré, with roots in Paris and a passion for exploration, excited fans by joining in on the adventure for the 2023 Dakar Rally, Saudi Arabia. The rally’s ceremonial start took off with Patrick Sireyjol and Thierry Fresard taking the wheel of a Toyota HDJ80 in the ‘Dakar Classic’ category, covering 5,000 km over 15 days, running from the beaches of the Red Sea to the sands of the Arabian Gulf in Dammam. This year’s edition featured 70% new tracks, making it one of the most challenging of its kind.

The rally covered 5,000 km over 15 days, running from the beaches of the Red Sea to the sands of the Arabian Gulf in Dammam.
