Islamabad: The Supreme Court annulled the Islamabad High Court’s decision to allow bikes to run on the motorway.
According to Leading News, the Supreme Court has issued a written decision in the case against allowing bikes to run on the motorway. The 9-page judgment was written by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, in which the federal government’s request against riding bikes on the motorway was approved.
In its detailed decision, the Supreme Court overruled the Islamabad High Court’s decision to allow bikes to run on the motorway and wrote that allowing bikes to run on the motorways could prove dangerous.
The Supreme Court decision further said that high-speed traffic on the motorway can be dangerous for motorcyclists. Banning bikes for the safety of citizens is not a violation of fundamental rights.
The judgment also said that laws are made to protect the life and property of citizens, the government has the power to ban motorcycles in certain areas as a precautionary measure.
