Sharjah glows green for Pakistan Independence Day celebrations

SHARJAH: The spirit of Pakistan Independence Day was in full bloom as the Pakistani community gathered at the Pakistan Social Center in Sharjah to celebrate their homeland’s 77th Independence Day.


The event was marked by joyous expressions of patriotism, with echoes of “Pakistan Zindabad” reverberating throughout the venue.
Overseas Pakistanis and diplomats, including Muhammad Saleh, Press Counsellor at the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai, and Muhammad Junaid Murtaza, Community Welfare Attaché at the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai, joined the celebrations, making it a memorable occasion for everyone involved.


A highlight of the event was the announcement of a Rs10 lakh cash prize for Olympian Arshad Nadeem. Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, President of the Pakistan Social Center Sharjah, praised Nadeem’s achievements, calling him “Fakhr-e-Pakistan” (Pride of Pakistan).
When the colours of Pakistan’s culture shined on the stage with regional music, overseas Pakistanis were moved to dance, expressing their deep love and pride for their country.


The celebration culminated with a cake-cutting ceremony, where Chaudhry Khalid Hussain, along with Pakistan diplomatic officials Muhammad Saleh and Muhammad Junaid Murtaza, celebrated the nation’s independence and extended heartfelt congratulations to all present on the occasion of Pakistan’s freedom.


The stage was adorned with vibrant colours, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan, while the air was filled with the melodies of national songs and the sight of green flags waving proudly.


The celebration not only honoured the nation’s independence but also paid a heartfelt tribute to Arshad Nadeem, symbolising the deep connection between Pakistan and its people, even thousands of miles from home.
