In a significant development, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, has been appointed as the new Emir of Kuwait following the passing of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Kuwaiti media reported that the Kuwaiti cabinet officially named 83-year-old Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as the new Emir. In response to this solemn occasion, the cabinet declared 40 days of mourning and expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
In honor of the late Emir, Sheikh Nawaf, all government institutions in Kuwait will remain closed for three days as a mark of respect and to allow the nation to mourn the loss of their leader.

Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who was 86 years old, passed away today. His hospitalization in November last month due to undisclosed health issues marked a period of concern for the nation. The cause of his illness has not been disclosed to the public.
Sheikh Nawaf assumed the role of Emir of Kuwait in 2020 following the passing of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad.
